Dialogue with ITAK Leadership on the Model Constitution Process

The One-Text Initiative met with C. V. K. Sivagnanam, Acting Leader of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), and M. A. Sumanthiran, Acting General Secretary of ITAK, for a constructive discussion on Sri Lanka’s Model Constitution-making process.

As part of its continuing engagement with political parties and stakeholders across Sri Lanka, the One-Text Initiative met with ITAK representatives in Jaffna on 18 July 2026.
The discussion was attended by C. V. K. Sivagnanam, Acting Leader of ITAK, and M. A. Sumanthiran, Acting General Secretary of the party.
The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce the Model Constitution initiative and discuss its broader consultative process. It was a positive, productive and cordial exchange that contributed to OneText’s continuing engagement with political stakeholders and its efforts to foster inclusive dialogue on Sri Lanka’s constitutional future.
